A Litter-less World
Project Description, Goals, and Theme
This project has been designed to maximize cross-curricular learning, develop 21st century skills, and give students agency to create change in their communities. The guiding question is "How can we teach others how to responsibly dispose of trash in our community?". The project is broken into three smaller projects:

Trashcan Painting
Trashion Show
Trash Themed Play

Trashcan painting
Students will first learn about the effects of littering for the environment, animals, and humans. They will then paint trash cans and recycling bings to reflect their learning. Next, the students will all take part in a trash clean up with their parents and community members.
Trashion Show
Students will work together to create a piece of clothing made with recycled materials. They will present their final garments to parents and community members before the play. Students may even choose to wear their recycled clothing as their costume.

Trash Themed Play
Students will plan the script and costuming for a trash themed play. Their parents and local community members will be invited to watch at the end of the project. Students will use their research about recycling and trash disposal to teach the audience about strategies they themselves can use.
